The Farming Simulator series is quietly very popular, and there's evidence of that in the UK's latest physical games chart. Farming Simulator 25 recently released on PS5, and it's made a debut at number six; just under half of those physical copies sold were for Sony's console.
This decent start lines up with a recent worldwide sales update from Giants Software, which tells us the game has sold over 2 million copies in its first week.
Elsewhere, the UK's chart is about what you'd expect. Call of Duty Black Ops 6 and EA Sports FC 25 continue to dominate at number one and two respectively, and Hogwarts Legacy completes the trifecta.
LEGO Horizon Adventures sadly misses the top 10 for its debut, arriving at number 13, though this type of game typically has a longer sales tail so may pop further up in the weeks before Christmas.
Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake is just one spot below it in 14th.
Here's the latest top 10 in full.
UK Sales Charts: Week Ending 16th November, 2024
- Call of Duty Black Ops 6
- EA Sports FC 25
- Hogwarts Legacy
- Super Mario Party Jamboree
- Super Mario Bros. Wonder
- Farming Simulator 25
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Nintendo Switch Sports
- The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Sound like Lego Horizon might be a flop. I’m guessing the reviews deflated its momentum big time. I know I went from pondering if I’d actually buy a Lego game for the first time in ages to “I think I’m done buying games this year.” Wouldn’t be surprised if others felt similar.
But what do I know? DQ3 came in the mail and that’s enough!
I picked up FS25. It's going to keep me interested for probably 500+ hours.
Where is GOTY Veilguard?
At least if you play the game you won't have to worry about inheritance tax.
@somnambulance Don't really think the game was meant for an audience that frequents game sites. They're probably waiting for the holiday to call it a success or not, and likely expect the Switch to account for most of its sales. The question will be: will kids/Switch gamers care about Horizon?
Personally speaking, I still bought it. Anyone expecting a LEGO game to score higher than 8s probably doesn't play LEGO games.
@somnambulance I think it peaked at 600 concurrent players on Stream, whereas DQ, which is below it on the above chart, has 45,000. So yeah, it not doing well. It's probably only up there so relatively high on the physical charts because it's more of a kids game and parents seem to prefer physical rather than putting credit card details into the console.
@somnambulance I don't think it would've done great even with a higher review score. LEGO games aren't great. And they're mostly geared toward kids which is why I think Sony allowed Nintendo to have it. Check back in January to see if it is or isn't a flop. Chances are after the holidays I'll be in a much better position sales-wise.
I had to do a double take. Farming Simulator sold 2 million copies in its first week?
@somnambulance The lack of open world and only 4 characters killed my hype for it.
@Matroska have you ever looked at the Lego games on steam? Apart from Lego Skywalker Saga they all have low CCUs and most don't even get their peaks until months and sometimes years later. Lego Harry Potter Collection only hit its peak last month.
Lifetime Peak Concurrent Players
Out of 25 Lego games on steam 18 of them have less than 3k peaks and only 1 of them has more than 6k and that's the Skywalker Saga with 82k.
Lego games just don't do well on steam at least at launch to the point I'm wondering why the publishers even bother putting them on there, maybe they have long tails and are basically evergreens or something so they eventually make a profit otherwise it just seems like a waste of time.
Always find time for a Farm Sim plat run 👍
There were more people playing Farming Sim on Steam than Dragon Age Veilguard on release 😂
Tells you everything you need to know - farming is universally loved by all!
@MrMagic Well Horizon has 600 not 6000 (and already down to 217 peak in the last 24h) so it's, what, 4th lowest if you add it to that list. But yeah, most of them don't do well. Though it's not exactly a direct comparison since this isn't made by the same devs as the other ones, and doesn't have the same type of gameplay - going off Push Square's review anyway.
I really don't think that Horizon is a strong enough brand to justify it's own Lego game.
The people who love the original games won't necessarily be in the market for a Lego game and the people interested in a new Lego game, most likely care nothing at all about the Horizon games.
@Matroska Yeah it's 5th but the lowest 13 are only separated by a few hundred players and the rest just a couple of thousand. Like I said before a few of them don't actually hit their peaks until much later when they go into the steam sales. The point is Lego games just don't do well on steam at launch apart from one outlier. Even the 4 top games out of the 25 games with 5k odd peak players are not good numbers either, sure they are better than horizon but they are still bad.
Maybe they have some data that tells them PC players are more likely to buy expensive limited edition Lego sets or something because Lego games on steam always seem to flop.
I love a sim so picking this up. A shockingly reasonably priced new release too. Nice.
This game has so far sold more copies than Astro Bot, pretty wild how popular it is.
@DennisReynolds @AhmadSumadi @Matroska @RoomWithaMoose Whatever can bless things bless DQ for hitting that number. I’m so glad to see it have success. First time in a while I bought a game on Switch when its on other platforms, but I just had to do it for DQ and the whole HD-2D thing.
I suppose this one is a pending holidays thing. I sort of got the vibe that Sony was trying to go big with this one, even though Lego games are typically weak to mid games with typically mid sales. I mean, it DID receive marketing, which is getting sort of uncommon in the industry now. It sort of seemed like it might’ve been the Lego game that tried to be more, but u was surprised when it was sort of along the lines of what anyone should have expected. It does make everything more baffling though and sort of obvious Sony was just trying to toss out a placeholder holiday title out there. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s literally made to get Nintendo kids interested in the franchise enough to want to buy a PS5 for the proper games.
@darylb24 Are we comparing a multi platform release to a widely popular franchise (literally on every available console) to single console release with it's first major release?
